APPH
invests over 1 million pounds in new state of the art,
multi-axis mill-turn machining centre at its machining division
(Beaufort Engineering) near Nottingham.
Press release
An APPH group company, which makes
components for the aerospace industry is investing in a new £1million
mill-turn machining centre thanks to a £90,000 grant from the East
Midlands Development Agency (EMDA). The project will enable the
company to significantly improve its manufacturing capability, and
therefore, global competitiveness.
Beaufort
Engineering, of Kirkby-in-Ashfield, manufactures critical and complex
components for the landing gear, airframe, aero-engine and marine
power industries. This latest investment represents the third £1million
Mill-Turn machine installed at Beaufort in the last three years,
investment only made possible by both the vision and support of
parent company APPH Limited and the grants awarded by EMDA. The
grant was made by EMDA under the Selective Finance for Investment
in England (SFIE) scheme.
Joe
Clark, General Manager of Beaufort Engineering, said: "These grants
have encouraged our group to invest in mill-turn technology. This
investment has enabled us to make fundamental changes to our business
in terms of productivity improvement, the introduction of new skills,
and most significantly, to strengthen our position in a very competitive
global market. With turnover in the aerospace sector globally set
to double over the next 20 years, Beaufort is well placed to attract
new work and retain skilled jobs."
