APPH
wins further 26 landing gear systems for the new Hawk trainer
The UK has announced a GBP 450 million
(about $841.5 million) contract for BAE Systems' Hawk Mk.128 Lead-In
Fighter Trainer (LIFT) aircraft. The contract covers production
of 28 jets, logistics spares, and initial training.
APPH
is supplying the main and nose landing gears (but not the hydraulic
flying controls - as these are now fly-by-wire systems). The landing
gear production will start in January 2007 and will go through to
September 2008.
These
Hawk LIFT aircraft will provide advanced jet training (AJT) for
both Royal Air Force and Royal Navy pilots, as part of the UK Military
Flying Training System.
This
is of course excellent news for APPH and increases the size of the
company's order book for the next two years. Hawk is the world's
most successful advanced jet training aircraft, outperforming and
outselling all other aircraft in its class.
Over
900 Hawk aircraft are in operational service with or have been ordered/selected
by 19 customers worldwide. APPH is the sole British-owned company
capable of providing complete landing gear systems. Thousands of
aircraft, hundreds of airlines and dozens of air forces throughout
the world rely on our expertise - a testimony to our commitment
to the very highest standards of technology, service, design and
development.
